Dase Hunaefi was born on 8 December 1979 in Cibadak, Sukabumi, West Java, Indonesia. In 1998, he passed high school (SMAN 1 Cibadak) and get the invitation and scholarship by ”Program Peduli RELAXA-CANDIO PT. Agel Langgeng” for the tuition fee and Best of the Best Dompet Dhuafa Republika to undertake Food Technology Program, Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia. He investigated ”the application of gelatin produced of shark and thornback skin for jelly candy” for his undergraduate reseach project. He completed his undergraduate studies in 2002. In the same year, he started to work in PT Ajinomoto Calpis Beverage as ”Research and Development Staff” until 2005. He decided to join the same department where he graduated as a junior staff in food processing and engineering division, Department of Food Science and Technology – IPB. In the same year, he was granted an Ausaid Scholarship to continue his study in food technology specialized on dairy technology. He completed his master degree in the end of 2007 with project research title ”Evaluating Stability of Lutein and Zeaxanthin as Functional Ingredients in reconstituted UHT Milk”. In the beginning of 2008, he got a DAAD scholarship to pursue his ”Dr.-Ing.” degree in Department of Methods in Food Biotechnology and Bio-engineering , Institute of Food Technology and Food Chemistry, Technische Universität Berlin, Germany. His research project focused  ”Impact bioprocess on plant functional secondary metabolites”. He has successfully depended his dissertation in 2013 with the result of 1.0 of German scale.

In 2014, he started his postdoctoral degree on food biotechnology at Technology Park – Laimburg research center and Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy on Microbial Biotransformation on Plant Secondary Metabolites. He finished his posdoctoral degree in 2016.
